Marine resilience integrated with foreshore restoration.
Delivered for Ryde City Council, the Morrison Bay project involved the removal and replacement of approximately 300 lineal metres of failing stone seawall. The extensive waterfront works were completed over a six-month construction period.
The replacement seawall was formed using approximately 7,000 sandstone logs installed side by side on a basalt subbase footing. Around 1,000 tonnes of basalt and sandstone rock armour were incorporated to strengthen the foreshore and provide long-term protection against erosion and water movement.
Environmental restoration formed an important part of the project, including the careful conservation and replanting of saltmarsh vegetation. These works required close coordination between the marine construction activities and the protection of the surrounding foreshore environment.
EBG also delivered detailed civil and hydraulic infrastructure, pathway upgrades, kerb and gutter works, and landscaping. The completed project provides a robust and carefully integrated waterfront edge that combines structural resilience, environmental rehabilitation and improved public amenity.
